Claudia Loza, Intern

she/ella

I am a 3rd year Master’s student intern at Pivot Collaborative. My work is informed by my own identities as a queer Latina, who is also bilingual (English/Spanish). I value exploring the intersection of identities and helping you build community. My goal is to encourage collaboration, so together, we can consider a holistic perspective of who you are and the experiences that have brought you here. This includes considering the impact various systems and spaces have on the identities you hold. You are the expert of your story and life, and this space is for you to be heard, seen, and supported.

My approach includes working from a strengths-based and trauma-informed lens. This informs my belief that you already have the tools necessary to grow and I understand the importance of meeting you where you are and being mindful of your needs. I center empowering you along your journey and approach things from a decolonized and anti-oppressive perspective that acknowledges collective healing and accessibility.

I have a background in youth development, school-based services, and community-based mental health services. This has included working with individuals experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, substance use, relationship issues, and providing crisis intervention. I am currently attending DePaul University’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling program to become a Licensed Professional Counselor, with a goal of providing trauma-informed care to BIPOC and LGBTQ+ individuals.

I look forward to working with you and knowing you.
